Intelligence frost seems underpowered... Empty Intelligence frost seems underpowered...

Post by Laomedon December 7th 2013, 6:11 pm

Hi i'm new to the forum. i've been playing a bit, messing around with builds. And i have the feeling that the Intelligence path is weak.

I need to literally spam the Q button to have some dps on the ice ball. And its never as affective as an agility based auto attack. I think intelligence play should be dangerous as it is but way more rewarding for the efforts you make to make it work.

Sames goes for subzero : great passive in the end, but weak as fuck against endgame mobs and bosses. Blizzard : same story : long casting time for a weak spell. I mean... why bother casting a spell when you can deal 1.5k dmg per second with an AUTO-attack ?

Thats my feedback ^^

The spells in the game are still "in beta" and there's tons of work to be had. There are other RPG's that have tons of spells with no problems with balancing (end of dreams for one) so I"m sure in the future Hero will figure something out with the spells.

Those RPGs only have 1 level for their abilities.

For Dragon RPG all the spells have at least 10 levels which means that I have to create a bunch of different versions.

For example for Fireball

I have to create

Ability:
-Fireball
Button:
-Learn Fireball
-Fireball
Unit:
-Fireball Missile
-Fireball Dummy Dragon
Actor:
-Fireball Missile
-Fireball Action
Effect:
-Fireball Damage Level 1
-Fireball Damage Level 2
-Fireball Damage Level 3
-Fireball Damage Level 4
-Fireball Damage Level 5
-Fireball Damage Level 6
-Fireball Damage Level 7
-Fireball Damage Level 8
-Fireball Damage Level 9
-Fireball Damage Level 10
-Fireball Missile Level 1
-Fireball Missile Level 2
-Fireball Missile Level 3
-Fireball Missile Level 4
-Fireball Missile Level 5
-Fireball Missile Level 6
-Fireball Missile Level 7
-Fireball Missile Level 8
-Fireball Missile Level 9
-Fireball Missile Level 10
Requirements:
-Fireball Requirement
Model:
-Fireball
-Fireball Impact
Trigger:
-Load Fireball
-Save Fireball
-Fireball Fire Dragon Reborn Reset
-Learn Fireball
-Calculate Fireball Rage
-Calculate Fireball Realm Switch
-Calculate Fireball Retaliation
-Calculate Fireball Absorb Mana
-Calculate Fireball Dark Dissulto
-Fireball low level enemy AI
-Fireball same level enemy AI
-Fireball hard level enemy AI

Then I have to make sure it is balanced. Then I have to tweak everything that needs to be tweaked. Then after I release the skill I have to constantly modify the skill based on any changes I make to anything else that could effect the balancing of the skill.

Fireball is also the simplest skill that I have made. Let me know if you want me to post the one for Nova.

wow thanks for your answers !

So if i get it right : spells WILL scale better in the future ?

Also something about the talent tree : It focuses heavily on mana regeneration and little on spell damage. But at high level your intelligence already provides tons of mana regen, making the talent points obsolete since levelling up your spells actually decreases the mana cost.

Example : Sub zero taxes 12 mana/sec at max level with all talents points on spell damage and around 200 int... and i have 1.2k mana, rege²nerating at a huuuge rate.

I would rather see spells taxing more mana as you level them up, but also more powerful, making the talent points useful.

Keep in mind these are only suggestions. I know they require a large amount of work. I've been an active member (and moderator) of the Footmen community for more than 3 years now, and Senfkatze (mod creator) always kept us aware of the amount of work our suggestions/demands were asking of him in terms of hours of work !

With that said : your mod is awesome and i have the feelin that it could become one of the best RPG in the arcade. If not the best and that the work you would put in it would be worth it.

But Lao Ill tell you what I tell new players, if you wanna go blow something up magically think fire it can scorch the earth in a heart beat, but the ice will create a cocoon of protecting ice to make bashing something's face in with a tenticle or claw a bit easier. With one spell that cant do dmg and another that wasn't envisioned to be anything but a support.
